Nancy deY Elkus
In my sculptural objects, installations, and videos, I use the human body as a focal point to examine the ways in which we are constrained by and contained within self-identity, culture and society. Using nontraditional and mundane materials, I create images that are often incongruous or ambiguous and that collide with instances of the false divides between the natural and the cultural and feminism and femininity.
